My favourite moment from E3 2015?
With E3 overand just over a month to reflect until Gamescom in August, here’s my favourite moment from E3 2015.
Bethesda’s press conference hit a mark for me. Every title Bethesda showed on their stage looked visually stunning, well thought out in terms of mechanics and unique. Most notably Fallout 4.
Fallout 4’s presentation dominated Bethesda’s stage time, and for good reason. The Boston-set latest addition to the franchise boasts a plethora of new features like the new, robust building and crafting system.
It wasn’t the in-game footage that grabbed my attention though.
Before showing off gameplay, Todd Howard bellowed the words “It all start with an obsession to detail”, launching a trailer displaying hundreds of pieces of concept art. Terminals, weapons, characters, houses, docks, abandoned diners, power armour. Watch it for yourself!
Accompanied by the iconic Fallout score, the collages of stunning artwork make it clear that Fallout 4 isn’t a simple money-spinner of a game but one massive passion project for the employees at Bethesda Game Studios.
Granted, a lot of the concept art shown may not make it into the game as it is exactly that. Concepts. However, it is intriguing to see some of the possibilities that could be awaiting players as they emerge from Vault 111 into the wasteland.
Obviously these guys are no strangers to massive open world games. From glimpses we’ve had with these recent concept arts and trailers, and with the success of the previous titles Fallout 3 and Skyrim, we can only expect that the passionate developers over at Bethesda Game Studios are having a blast creating this experience.
Finishing his presentation with a nuclear bombshell, Todd Howard revealed that Fallout 4 will be hitting our shelves sooner than we thought with a worldwide release on November 10th this year.
